Gavin comes from a long line-up of Champions with incredible accomplishments​. Gavin is a son of an Australian Cattle Dog that was imported to the USA from Italy. "Risk" AKA: GCH Revolver di Monte Tonico is his name.

The pedigree goes back to the "Que Blue" (Au) bloodlines on both sides. "Cold" AKA: GCH CH Icebreaker di Monte Tonico is the grandsire that is an international champion in 4 countries. He was #1 ACD all breed systems 2016, and #1 in herding 2016; plus a long list of other incredible accomplishments.

Gavin has been a superstar in the conformation ring even though we are both new to showing. Even with Covid-19 shutting down dog shows for most of 2020, Gavin managed to become a champion at 20 months old. If there were majors to be had at the shows, he may have been able to finish sooner. We were showing in Arizona to get back at it as there were not even dog shows happening in California! I am so proud of this dog, and I love him so much. No matter what happens in the ring, we have fun together.

About Gavin

Gavin is my dream dog. Gavin is from Royal Kennels in Missouri. Bob & Mandy Peniston have been breeding, showing, and a lot more with their dogs from childhood throughout their life until now. They are second and third generation breeders. They really know how to do it, let me tell you! Royal's Greatest Love Story (GAVIN) came from Missouri on a plane Dec 23, 2019. He is a dreamboat, and just keeps getting dreamier. Gavin and I are having a blast at conformation dog shows, nose-work, barn hunt, herding, and whatever helps keeps us out of mischief.

Health Testing: He is clear "A" for PRA-prcd, clear "A" for PLL, and normal bilateral hearing on his BAER. The DNA Genetic tests panel were done through Wisdom, and he is clear for all 225 diseases. OFA CHIC #: 170456

The Penn Hip evaluation was completed, and the results for the Penn Hip;

DI on Gavin is 0.38. The breed average DI is 0.45  There was no OA in either hip or elbows (in preliminary).  

The Italian stallion, "Risk" is Gavin's sire. He was imported from Italy by the Peniston's out of the incredible Monte Tonico Kennel. He is proving to be a phenomenal producer. Several of his offspring are Grand Champions, and were in the ACD Breed Standings Top 15 for 2022. Congrats to Bob and Mandy!

Gavin is such a delight in our pack. I cannot thank him enough for the many hours he spent entertaining our litter of 9 puppies when he was a puppy. He was a saint. He would get in the puppy pen, and Willow would chase him out. He would wait until the coast was clear, and head back in to play with the puppies. He would lay down and let them crawl all over him. He still plays with Mya', Moxie, and Willow all of the time. He is a goofball. In my opinion, Gavin is gorgeous, and he keeps getting better looking with age! I am so excited for my fun adventures with this guy. He is so awesome, funny, silly, sexy, smart, and you just gotta meet him! In the show ring, Gavin has been winning rather consistently. He has enough points for his championship, grand championship, and we recently acquired his Bronze Grand Championship. I am so grateful every day for everything I have been able to learn because of this handsome dog. He has sired some of the most sound minded, healthy-, and good-looking puppies. It is a journey, that has been so much fun with Gavin. Thank you to Mandy and Bob again for entrusting me with him and giving me the opportunity to get started as a competitive Owner Handler and ethical breeder. It is such a wonderful life experience to get to learn the dog show ropes with Gavin. He continues to improve as he matures. We are doing nose work outside of the show ring. Gavin obtained his Novice Scent work title and completed Advanced Containers Title in March 2023. Along with that, he completed the Farm Dog Certification test at the dog show and passed his Canine Good Citizen Test to add several more letters to the suffix of his name.
