B.A.E.R. Testing

I am now offering BAER Testing at West Coast Equine Medicine in Temecula, CA. The testing will be by appointment only. The results will be eligible for OFA submission, so if you want to submit to OFA print out the form so the DVM can sign it at the time of testing. The pricing for litters of puppies is $85.00 per puppy. If there are more than 6 pups in the litter, it is a LLD (Large Litter Discount) pups #7 thru ___ will be $75. Single dog or puppy price is $150.00 Plus any sedation, if needed. The BAER Test is the only test accepted by OFA. It is a non-invasive procedure that will take about 10 minutes with no interruptions (puppies wiggling can take longer). There are three very small electrode needles that have to penetrate the skin. One on top of the head, and one under each ear. There is a soft microphone that goes in the ear being tested. The machine will emit loud clicking sounds in a series and collect the data In a wave form similar to a EKG reading of a heart beat. The test can only diagnose full hearing or no hearing. If no hearing is diagnosed, there is a bone stimulator hearing test that can be pursued through a neurologist or an audiologist if it is desired to confirm with further diagnostics.
